Over 3 decades, He's flown most types of aircraft including ultra lights and RC Models. Eventually, he obtained a Piper Comanche 260C Shark Nose and rebuilt it to pristine condition. During his 8 years as owner, he, like many others, came to appreciate this aircraft for all its excellent qualities and superior performance. He then decided to take a great design and a great aircraft and make it even better. FrancoisJordaan was contracted to help with the design of the Ravin 500. He is an aeronautical engineer who's career includes design of Seeker Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (1982-83) CSIR Medium Speed Wind Tunnel (1985-88), Celair Eagle Light Aircraft, Celstar Aerobatic Glider and building of 2 Lancair kits, 2 of Thunder Mustang's kits and a SeaWind Amphibian. The Ravin is an all composite kit aircraft for amateur construction with over 14 kits flying today. The Ravin 500 made it's first flight on September 15th, 2002. Ravin 300, fix gear, fix pitch flew in January 2007. We are a family owned and operated business with a rich history and passion for aviation and the field of composite aircraft construction. The Ravin was developed from a need for an aircraft that would outperform all others while still maintaining form and function.  With three generations of aviation in our family we have learned to want the best. What we want is speed, range, power, and most importantly, no substitutes. That means not sacrificing comfort, speed, payload, range, safety, or any other feature.
